Looking west to the beautiful state of California, one of our most recent projects took place to the campus of Columbia College located in the heart of the state’s “Gold Country.”
Named after the miners from Sonora, Mexico who originally settled the city, Sonora maintains its historic charm while modernizing itself with museums, art galleries and a number of theatres. Located a mere 75 miles from Yosemite National Park, Sonora is also an outdoor recreationist’s dream. With access to hundreds of resorts, campground, lakes and National Parks, Sonora provides residents and visitors alike with ample opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors.
Heading indoors, we were contacted by the instructional support technician at Sonora’s Columbia College who was looking for a padding solution to cover the entire gymnasium at the growing college. Kicking off a project that would end up being one year in the making, our team worked closely with key stakeholders at the college to ensure a smooth and efficient experience.
Without any local support in California, officials from the college took the lead, working in tandem with our sales and design departments. The challenge was in coordinating proper measurements within the gymnasium that would allow our design team to design a padding solution that would fit each and every nuance of the space.
Meticulously measuring each wall, angle, corner, switch and air ventilation area, the staff at Columbia College delivered pristine measurements to our team. With the exact take-off measurements provided by the college, our design team was then able to get to work on the padding plan. After digital layouts were provided to the client for review and were eventually approved, the project was passed along to our manufacturing facility.
After the manufacturing process was completed, the padding was carefully packed and shipped out to sunny California to be met by officials from the college. Before the padding was to be installed, the entire gymnasium was treated to a fresh coat of paint and maintenance staff then followed the included installation instructions and set each piece of padding in place.
