With a deep-rooted history in helping young people who need it most, the Boys and Girls Club has been in operation since the late 1800’s. With the first location opening its doors in Hartford, Connecticut in 1860, the organization quickly sprouted across North America and is now staffed by over 58,000 young development professionals.
Working well within the founding mandate of the club, the Boys and Girls Club of Kingston has been providing a safe and supportive place for children and youth since the club officially opened in 1993. The club proudly serves the Kingston area providing camps, community events and the support and encouragement the organization has become known for.
Over the years, we have worked closely with the Kingston club, having helped them install gym divider curtains and netting, among other projects in the past. As the club was once again planning renovations to their growing facility, they reached out to our team for assistance.
The club planned on repurposing an exercise room into a fully functional athletic space and turned to us to help them with the planning and with providing the required equipment. The room, originally furnished with fitness equipment such as treadmills, weights, and wall-to-ceiling mirrors were to be transformed into an athletic space, complete with artificial turf, soccer goals, benches and wall padding for additional safety.
We were commissioned to design, manufacture and install the wall padding for three of the walls in the room as well as to provide a solution for safely dividing the space when the need arose. In addition to our padding, the club opted for our walk-draw gym divider curtain, as they had one already installed elsewhere in their facility, and which allows just about anyone to safely and easily walk the curtain across to divide the space when required.
The club is now home to a unique playroom where children and youth can now hone their athletic skills during all seasons of the year.
