With the bats officially swinging now in southern Ontario, this project came to fruition long before this year’s baseball season got underway. During the fall of 2023, the Municipality of North Middlesex reached out to us to help them keep balls in play at a couple of their local ball diamonds and we vigorously answered the call.

With the big bats dominating last year’s season, concerns were on the rise at both Parkhill Park and Ailsa Craig Community Park. With homes located nearby, balls were occasionally landing very close by or, in some cases, inside the yards and key stakeholders wanted to rectify the situation before someone got hurt. Add in the fact that these two ball diamonds were now also closely situated to new skateparks, the municipality wasted no time sourcing a solution to protect those users as well.

Our team visited the sites and got an idea as to what exactly was required to keep everything inside the ballpark. Our senior drafting team provided extensive feedback on strategic placement and design of the prospective netting barriers. In the end, our team determined that three netting barriers would be required to keep the balls in play across the two parks and after getting the greenlight from the municipality on our tender, we were in play.

Each of the netting barriers was designed to stand 40’ high and would stretch between 100’ and 130’ in total length. We got busy during the winter months securing all of the material and at the first sign of snow melt, we were on-site to begin the installation process.

It didn’t take our team long to get the poles strategically placed and the netting strung and we are very happy to report that spring and summer ball is underway and the nearby skateboard parks and residential backyards are now safe places to play and relax.

If a custom netting barrier project has landed on your desk, be sure to get in touch with a member of our team.  With extensive knowledge of both designing and installing these large netting barriers, we are able to guide you through the design and provide you with a quote to include the installation by our trained staff.
