Located in the heart of Barrhaven, a bustling suburb of Canada’s National Capital Region is St. Joseph’s Catholic High School. As a member of the Ottawa Catholic School Board, the school serves approximately 1,200 students in grades 7 to 12. Renowned for its robust athletic programming, including competitive teams in soccer, basketball, volleyball, and track and field, the school fosters a strong sense of community and school spirit. As part of some recent and much needed upgrades to the busy school, our team was called to transform the school’s outdated and unsafe bleacher seating into a modern, code-compliant solution.
Earlier this year, St. Joseph’s reached out to our sales team to address concerns with their two aging, non-code-compliant bleachers. The existing three-row bleachers, equipped with a single footboard and no riser planks, posed safety risks and faced potential condemnation. The school sought a solution that would meet Ontario’s safety and building code standards while staying within their budget. Following a thorough on-site assessment, we proposed replacing the old bleachers with a single, state-of-the-art Gold Model BL-5TB-30, a 30-foot-long, five-row bleacher designed to seat 100 people comfortably.
Our 5-row Gold Model bleacher is engineered for safety and durability, featuring double footboards that provide enhanced stability and comfort for spectators. It also includes riser planks on each row, ensuring safe footing and accessibility, as well as rear and side guard rails that meet stringent safety codes to protect users.
Following a quick approval process, our team installed the new seating in the spring of 2025, transforming the school’s outdoor seating area while creating a safe and welcoming environment for sports events, assemblies, and community gatherings. The project was completed on time and within budget, reflecting our unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality solutions tailored to client needs.
In a project that highlights our consultative approach, from the initial site visit to the seamless installation process. Encouraged by the success of this project, St. Joseph’s is considering adding a second bleacher during their next fundraising cycle, signaling confidence in our ability to deliver where and when it matters most.
