One of our most recent projects brought us to beautiful Brampton, Ontario, a dynamic city known for its diverse communities and commitment to outdoor recreation. Nestled in the heart of this bustling suburb, Chris Gibson Park serves as a vital green space for residents of all ages that offers a variety of amenities, including a splash pad for summer fun, soccer fields, a leash-free dog park, and even a 1.5-mile loop trail perfect for casual walks or jogs. In addition to all those fantastic amenities, the city was in the process of creating a state-of-the-art softball and baseball diamond and tapped our team's expertise to help keep balls in play.
Over the years, we've collaborated on numerous netting barrier projects, leveraging our expertise to create safe, durable solutions tailored to local needs. This time, we were tasked with designing and installing a custom netting barrier for the new ballfield at Chris Gibson Park—a project that kicked off with a thorough site assessment.
Recognizing the unique challenges of Brampton's varied terrain, our team conducted soil testing to ensure the installation of utility poles would be secure and long-lasting. This step was crucial, as the park's location near residential areas and busy roads demands structures that can withstand Ontario's harsh winters.
From there, our engineering team came up with a comprehensive design, complete with stamped engineered drawings that were eventually presented to the city for approval. The result? A full turnkey system featuring a 250-foot-long netting barrier standing 26 feet above grade. What sets this installation apart is its seasonal adaptability: the netting panels can be easily opened and closed, protecting them during the off-season and extending their lifespan. This thoughtful feature not only reduces maintenance costs but also aligns with Brampton's sustainable approach to public spaces.
We couldn't have achieved this without our trusted partners at Rafat General Contracting Inc., whose collaboration ensured seamless execution from concept to completion. Together, we've enhanced Chris Gibson Park's ball diamonds, providing a safer environment for softball and baseball players while preserving the park's open and inviting atmosphere.
Whether you're a local resident cheering on a game or a visitor enjoying the trails, this new ballfield is set to become a favorite spot for seasons to come.
