Motorsports are something we at Sport Systems have taken part in and supported for a number of years.  Combining our president’s passion for racing along with the unique branding opportunities sponsorship brings to our organization, we love being a part of the action.

After sponsoring Nolan Gould’s Sport Systems’ mini stock machine with a successful season in 2014, we are back on the track.  Our most recent sponsorship brought us to the DIRT Sportsman Series running races at both Brockville and Cornwall, Ontario and more specifically, paired us up with Tom Roy of Roy Performance Motorsports.

Following a fifteen-year tenure in road racing and motocross, Tom took a number of years off of the racing scene and began honing his skills racing dirt karts with his daughter.  In addition to spending quality time with his daughter, Tom spent about four years in training and last year, completed his first year of racing in a car.

Despite his lack of experience, Tom charged out of the gates as the oldest rookie sportsman in 2015, running races in Brockville, Mohawk and Brighton Speedways.  By the end of the season Roy Performance Motorsports achieved three heat wins, one feature win and finished third in points at Brockville Speedway.

In addition to these accomplishments, the team also qualified for the feature at Mohawk Speedway as part of the track’s fall special, competing with a class of the best sportsman drivers in all of DIRT racing.

This year, Roy and his team has set the bar higher, moving out of the rookie class and now competing with regular sportsman drivers.  The off-season was a busy one as the team crafted a new vehicle after acquiring a new chassis and trained diligently, preparing for what was to come.

The final product on the track for 2016 is a 2007 Bicknell Dirt Sportsman, powered by a 390 Horsepower Chevrolet Crate motor and running under the #31.  The team is aiming to compete two nights a week at both the Brockville Speedway and the Cornwall Motor Speedway.

Sport Systems proudly joins Roy Performance Motorsports’ other partners including V6 Agronomy, Hosie and Brown, CCG Law, Royal Brock Retirement Living and Jackson Networks in wishing Tom all the best in 2016.

As part of this partnership, we will be posting updates regarding Tom’s progress throughout the racing season.  Go get ‘em, Tom!
