After a long preseason of indoor drills and conditioning, it is finally that time of year when eager lacrosse teams get to take to the turf for their first round of match ups. After the first college “Super Saturday” of March, the NCAA rankings have entered a state of flux as each subsequent win and loss has shifted the standings significantly. All we can conclude so far is that this is going to be a season to remember.

March 1st (i.e. Super Saturday) was a biggie for the 2014 college lacrosse season - 62 teams faced off in 31 games that day, with over 90% of Division I teams taking to the field at the same time! Following the outcomes of the dozens of east coast lacrosse match ups on the afternoon of 3/1, the NCAA standings as we previously knew them were scrambled beyond recognition. Such is lacrosse life on Super Saturday!

We are all excited about lacrosse this year, and with the college season well underway, high school and youth lacrosse players are getting ready to come out of hibernation as well.

Registration for most youth leagues opened up during the second and third weeks of February, and now the teams are beginning to take shape as the spring schedules are drafted.

The first wave of spring sports tryouts is sweeping high schools everywhere, and anticipation for this year’s lacrosse season is mounting. Many school districts across the US are reporting notable growth in their lacrosse programs this year compared to previous seasons. For instance, just last year, lacrosse was brand new to Middlebury High School in Indiana, and this year, local papers report remarkable turnout this year, with their lacrosse program now doubled in size.

As the fastest game on two feet continues to gain fast fame, lacrosse will surely be making its way to your facility next! Make sure you’ve got the necessary  lacrosse equipment in time for the first face off of the season, starting with durable goals and nets.
