Bringing Soccer to a Whole New Level at the Cambridge Soccer Centre

The growth of soccer here in North America has been remarkable, to say the least. The sport’s popularity has exploded in both Canada and the United States over the past two decades and shows no signs of slowing down.

As more state-of-the-art pitches, fields and complexes continue to be designed and built, each one seems to be more impressive than the last.

We were fortunate to have been brought in on the construction side of one such complex in the beautiful Waterloo area of Ontario. The Cambridge Soccer Centre has been the brainchild of the family-oriented city of Cambridge. After having developed the plans for the project in 2018, it officially got off the ground in 2021, garnering plenty of excitement for the future of soccer in the southwestern Ontario city.

When the groundbreaking got underway in 2022, we were brought into the project by the team at Gateman Milloy, who was awarded the project. The new complex was scheduled to be home to seven new full-sized soccer fields, three of which were to include synthetic turf and the four others surfaced with premium grass. In addition to the new pitch, a full-scale fieldhouse complete with washrooms and other facilities was to be constructed.

As the building process progressed for the fieldhouse and the new fields, our team was brought in to take care of the bleacher seating that was to be installed on the sidelines of the new fields. In total, we were tasked with supplying eight banks of our five-row bleachers as well as three banks of our ten-row bleachers, complete with barrier-free wheelchair seating access.

In total, the city sought to provide seating for just over 800 spectators spread across a number of structures on the fields. In addition to all of this, we were also tasked with ensuring that the larger bleachers were safe for all to enjoy with the standard upgraded rear and side guardrails to our vertical picket system that adds style with the best in safety protection.

A custom spotters booth was the final task on the list of requests for this dynamic project. We designed, manufactured and installed this unique stand that allowed for photography, videography and a unique viewpoint of the on-field action.

The new complex had their grand opening on June 15th as the community rallied behind the new fields and access to premier soccer programming. If a new soccer complex project is coming your way, be sure to contact us for your spectator seating requirements.

We can include a spotters booth, a press box, soccer goals, players benches and just about anything else you can dream up.
