We are quickly becoming known as Ontario’s go-to provider when it comes to not only removing old and outdated gym partitions, but replacing them with state-of-art dividers as well. As concerns around safety continue to swirl around schools and other facilities that still have these old partitions in use, school boards and facility managers keep a keen eye on the condition and operation of these now antiquated pieces of equipment.
Having been installed (in most cases) decades ago, these partitions begin to slow down, stall or worse, break down during use. In addition to becoming a safety hazard, they often become non-functional, leading to more down time for athletic programming and a sub-optimal use of space.
This was the case when two Ottawa high schools reached out to our team with troubles of their own. Both Hopewell Ave. Public School and Sacred Heart High School each had one of these outdated partitions currently installed in their gymnasium. Key stakeholders from the schools connected with our team regarding their issues with the partitions and were looking for a solution that could solve their problem.
Having done many of these across the country and in the US, we were quick to offer our services of removal and replacement. While these partitions once came with hefty price tags, our new gym divider curtains come in at only a fraction of the cost that these partitions once cost. With savings in the neighborhood of 50-75%, we always recommend our centre-drive curtains, which can travel at twice the speed of traditional curtains.
The idea was an instant sale with these schools and our installation team was quickly deployed to both locations to have a more detailed site visit. Before we can quote these curtains, our team requires an in-depth look at the gymnasium or proposed space to ensure that they can be installed safely and efficiently.
Our team needed to venture high above the gym floor in both locations in order to have a look at the bulkhead area of the old folding partition to see what the new unit would be attaching to and to ensure that the curtain would fit the space.
Where we can utilize the existing bulkhead we will and in doing so, allows us to pass along those savings to our customers. With the ability to attach to the current construction of the bulkhead, our team went ahead and priced the curtains based on those findings.
The quotes were quickly approved and it wasn’t long before our team was once again on-site, this time to complete the final installation. The two curtains were ordered with custom colour combinations to add a splash of school spirit and now allow both gymnasiums a safe way to effectively utilize their athletic space.
