New Barrier Free Telescopic Bleachers for East Elgin Secondary School

Working within our home province of Ontario, we were once again invited to work on a project with our friends and partners at the Thames Valley District School Board. Overseeing a number of schools in southern Ontario, we’ve had a long-standing relationship with this board and have been a part of many projects within their district that now serves over 84,000 students.

Looking to improve some indoor seating in one of their gymnasiums, the board had previously removed some outdated wooden bleachers from within East Elgin Secondary School and was looking for a new solution to fill that void. Having seen what we can do in the bleacher space, the school board wasted no time asking us about a new telescopic system. In addition to the smooth operation and versatility they’ve come to expect from these bleachers, they were also looking for a system that was completely code compliant and that would be barrier free in design.

To satisfy this, we were asked to design the front row of the bleacher in a way that would allow additional seating for those in wheelchairs. Our design team quickly got to work designing the new bleachers as specified and delivered detailed drawings to the board, which were quickly approved.

Following the manufacturing process, our experienced installation team arrived on site with the new bleachers and were set to install them in a timely manner. Today, the school is home to brand new banks of fully-motorized, fully accessible and fully code compliant telescopic bleachers that can be enjoyed for years to come.
