New Outdoor Basketball Systems for St. Luke’s Park in Ottawa

While we’ve been known to travel across the country and install projects from coast-to-coast, sometimes working in your own back yard can be a nice change of pace. Having our headquarters located just outside of Canada’s National Capital Region definitely has its perks. From access to a world-class city, the parliament buildings and attractions that draw in visitors from around the world, our installation teams and trucks can be found in parks, schools, community centers and other athletic facilities across this great city.

As part of some upgrades for a local park, the city of Ottawa once again tapped our team to help design and install some new basketball systems. With outdated systems in place, the city was looking for an updated look and one that would better serve the community. In a project that kicked off last year, it was slated to be launched earlier this spring after a community voting plan gave city planners everything they needed to plan the upgrades.

Among the requested upgrades made by the community, included the pruning of trees, a new surface treatment for the courts, additional lighting for late-night play, adjustable systems for all levels of play and break-away rims for long-lasting play.

In addition to the above, the community was rallying around glass backboards for the systems, but given the fact that the new units would be closely situated to a pool, they instead opted for our beautifully-designed steel backboards.

Once all of the details were ironed out, we worked closely with our partners at Prestige Design and Construction on all of the finishing touches. Once everything was approved by the city, our team got to work on the systems, which we installed earlier this year in the new park.

The park was officially opened to the public earlier this month and is, once again, serving the community in a meaningful way - one we trust will last for quite a number of years to come.
