Founded in the late 1800’s by Oxford University graduate George Penrose Woollcombe, Ashbury College in Ottawa’s premiere neighbourhood of Rockliffe Park was the site of one of our more recent projects.
The historic boarding school in Canada’s National Capital is now home to 170 students in its Junior School and 515 students in the Senior School, where it continues to shape young minds through academic, artistic and athletic development.
Located about an hour away from our headquarters, the school approached our team to supply and install four gym divider curtains for two of the three gymnasiums located on the 12-acre campus.
The school’s main gymnasium, featuring six basketball systems, score clock and Spieth Anderson volleyball systems, would be the future home to three of those curtains while the remaining divider’s final destination was set for the smaller auxiliary gym.
All of the selected divider curtains were our top-roll design, which eliminates cables, belts and straps for nearly maintenance-free operation. These curtains require as little as 14” of vertical storage space and are equipped with internal motors for whisper quiet operation.
Each of the newly installed curtains was also equipped with convenient hand-held wireless remote controllers and receivers to easily open and close the structures without the use of wall-inserted keys. This revolutionary system allows operators to open or close all four of the curtains from just one remote at any time.
In addition to the already aesthetically pleasing design of this line of curtains, the school also opted for some customization. On each end of every curtain, our team screen-printed the prestigious Ashbury Crest on the lower vinyl portion.
Without having to add additional wiring and conduit work to the operation, Ashbury College is now left with a fully functioning and truly wireless gym divider solution as they continue to provide their student body with adaptive athletic infrastructure to match their stellar programming.
