If you know our company history, you know we started our journey here in the town that raised James Naismith, with the sport of basketball. Since then, we’ve evolved into a wide array of sports equipment and infrastructure, but still take pride in transforming recreational spaces across the country—one hoop at a time. Whether it's a massive arena or a local community gym, we proudly upgrade them all. With that in mind, we're thrilled to share the successful completion of a recent basketball system upgrade for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Centre in Maple, Ontario.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, peace-loving global organization dedicated to promoting spiritual growth, education, and community service. In Canada, their centres serve as vibrant hubs for worship, learning, and youth development. Athletic programming plays a key role in their activities, and they regularly host basketball leagues, tournaments, skills sessions, and multi-sport events including soccer, volleyball, and cricket.
Local institutions often reach out to us when their older basketball systems need a refresh, and this project was no exception. The client wanted to upgrade from traditional fan-shaped backboards to modern glass backboards for improved visibility, rebound performance, and a premium look.
These seemingly straightforward calls require real technical expertise. Key considerations for jobs like this one always include a structural assessment which helps us determine whether or not the existing wall or frame can safely support the added weight of glass backboards. That is often followed by a safety inspection that allows our team to get a closer look and inspect walls and frames for cracks or mounts that could become hazardous under new loads. And finally, we complete a site evaluation that includes a trained installer for a full on-site take-off to measure and assess everything before the work begins.
In the case of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Center, our team performed a thorough review and executed a clean, professional installation. We removed the old fan-shaped backboards and installed new glass backboards complete with cushion edge molding for added player protection.
This upgrade has given the space a fresh, energetic feel that elevates gameplay and inspires athletes. Students, youth athletes, and community members can now enjoy basketball at a higher level, whether during regular practices, league games, or casual open gym sessions. The clearer backboards, better rebounding, and safer edges make every shot and drive more enjoyable and confidence-building.
Thank you to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Centre team for trusting Sport Systems Canada with your facility. We're honored to contribute to spaces that bring people together through sport and community.
