With three campuses spread across downtown Toronto, George Brown College has been a respected institution in both the city and the province since its inception in 1967. Today, the college serves nearly 80,000 students in over 170 different programs.
We’ve had a long-standing relationship with the college, having worked with them on a variety of projects over the years, we’re proud to have played a small role in the school’s overall growth. With a relationship that spans decades, it’s no wonder when key stakeholders from the college are in need of new athletic equipment or infrastructure are quick to place a call to our offices.

Working, once again, with the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB), one of our recent projects took us back to beautiful Kingston, Ontario. Lying at the mouth of the Cataraqui and St. Lawrence rivers, the city is known for its storied history and academic excellence serving as the home for Queen’s University, St. Lawrence College and the Royal Military College of Canada.
Having worked in the area across a multitude of projects, it’s always great to get back and continue to approve athletic facilities in and around one of our favorite cities.
We got a call from the ALCDSB as they were looking for some upgrades for one of their older schools. Located directly downtown, the École catholique Cathédrale was in search of some much needed upgrades to their existing basketball systems.

Given our proximity to the Nation’s Capital here in Canada, we especially take pride in servicing our local clubs with new equipment and solutions whenever the need arises. Having a strong relationship with our local clubs, we’re proud to participate in improvements whenever they reach out to our team.

The University of Ottawa’s Gee-Gee’s basketball team has no shortage of legitimate ballers. After winning this year’s Wilson Cup over the rival Carleton Ravens, the men’s team has become a force to be reckoned with.
As with any high-performing team, the equipment they practice and compete with on a daily basis is subject to a lot of wear and tear. Where we see the same equipment last much longer with primary-aged student athletes, the same is not true for college competition athletes playing at such a high level.

Since it was established in the 1980s, Dovercourt Recreation has been a staple in serving the National Capital Region with recreational programming for children and community members. In addition to their overall goal of building a healthy, active and engaged community through recreation, it is Eastern Ontario’s first HIGH FIVE accredited organizations.
Currently run by the Dovercourt Recreation Association as part of the City of Ottawa’s recreational programming, representatives from the city reached out to our team with concern about some of the equipment located at the Dovercourt complex.

Basketball courts located within housing complexes are always high-traffic areas, providing free entertainment, exercise and community engagement. But with consistent use and exposure to the elements, equipment such as basketball hoops, nets and backboards inevitably require repair or replacement. When local officials at Strathcona Heights found themselves in this very situation, they requested the expertise of Sport Systems to revitalize their outdoor court.
