We’ve done a wide array of basketball systems over the years in a number of different locations. From private residences, universities, colleges and high schools to community centres and summer camps, we feel like we’ve truly seen it all.
One of our more recent projects allowed us to continue to expand our portfolio of basketball system installations, adding off-campus student housing to the growing list. Located in the heart of Canada’s Capital, the THEO is conveniently located close to both the University of Ottawa and NIHN. Serving students from both of these respected institutions, the THEO exists to provide a safe, fun and most importantly, an affordable place for students to live off-campus.
Featuring common areas such as 14 unique study areas, a gym, rec room, movie lounge, art room, music rooms and where we happened to fit in: a basketball court.
Looking to outfit the new court with everything needed to provide a safe space to shoot some hoops, key stakeholders from THEO came to us in search of solutions. Considering the limited available space, we really had to rely on our engineering team to come up with a creative solution for this particular project.
Much like we did when we installed a new system and completely customized ‘Carolina Blue’ wall padding for an avid University of North Carolina fan, we took detailed measurements of the allotted space and got down to business.
One of the main issues was the mounting of the new basketball system. Our team had to create a customized wall-mounted bracket design that would disperse the load and allow the unit to be mounted directly to concrete masonry units without a secondary support system.
Once we had a plan in place, our team was on site for the final installation, which went off without a hitch. Today, students now have yet another amazing space inside THEO to get a little sweat out in between their studies.
