The Aamjiwnaang First Nation (AFN), formerly known as the Chippewas of Sarnia, is a First Nations community of approximately 2,500 Chippewa (Ojibwe) Aboriginal people, with 900 residing on the Reserve. Located on the St. Clair River, 3 miles south of Lake Huron's southern tip, the community is situated within Sarnia's city limits in southwestern Ontario, directly across the US border from Port Huron, Michigan.
Having worked with a number of First Nations communities across both Canada and the United States, we were thrilled to have been brought into this project. We were first contacted by the community’s Manager of Community Services who was looking for help with replacing some outdated equipment in the facility’s gymnasium.
The school gymnasium, due to both safety concerns and regulatory compliance, needed to replace its outdated wooden bleachers. The existing telescopic bleachers, like many older manually operated models, had become increasingly difficult to operate and no longer met current safety codes.
During our initial discussions with the AFN, we focused on determining the appropriate bleacher size that would best fit within the available space for this renovation project. Based on these discussions and measurements, we provided a budget quote, enabling the AFN to initiate fundraising efforts to secure the necessary funds.
We were delighted to receive a call from the AFN confirming that they had successfully raised the required funds and were ready to proceed with the project. With the order secured, we finalized the design and initiated the manufacturing process.
It wasn’t long before a pair of motorized, 4-row Kodiak 2400 Series Bleachers were shipped directly to the school in Sarnia. Our factory-trained staff then carefully offloaded and installed the bleachers, ensuring they were correctly positioned and fully operational before leaving them in the capable hands of facility staff.
We are very satisfied with the installation of our bleachers. Not only are they great quality, but the installation crew was great to deal with. We look forward to dealing with you again in the future!
Brian Bois, Manager of Community Services Aamjiwnaang First Nation
The successful completion of this project resulted in a very happy client, which is always our primary goal and makes our work incredibly fulfilling. We’ve become well known across the country as the go-to source for bleacher replacements, particularly when it comes to old, wooden outdated models that are still in operation in many facilities. If your community, school or athletic facility is curious about the condition of any of the equipment in your gymnasium, do not hesitate to contact us to discuss your options!
