Since it was established in the 1980s, Dovercourt Recreation has been a staple in serving the National Capital Region with recreational programming for children and community members. In addition to their overall goal of building a healthy, active and engaged community through recreation, it is Eastern Ontario’s first HIGH FIVE accredited organizations.
Currently run by the Dovercourt Recreation Association as part of the City of Ottawa’s recreational programming, representatives from the city reached out to our team with concern about some of the equipment located at the Dovercourt complex.
Given the volume of community members that utilize the facility’s space, it was no surprise that the existing portable basketball systems had taken a literal beating over the years and were no longer performing as well as expected. While what was on site was far from professional grade, the organization secured the right financing that would allow them to explore the possibility of upgrading to higher-value equipment.
Key stakeholders from the city had their sights set on a brand new pair of wall-mounted basketball systems complete with height adjusters, allowing all age levels to participate. In addition to the basketball systems, they wanted to ensure the safest environment possible for participants and looked to our team to design custom wall padding to be located beneath each basketball system.
Our team gathered the necessary measurements on-site for both the basketball equipment and the new padding system that was to be designed and installed. Given the unique structure of some of the walls inside the gymnasium, our team was careful to take note of certain obstructions and ensured our measurements were as accurate as possible.
Following the quoting process, the project was awarded to our team. We instantly got to work on producing the products and equipment that would be used by the local community. It wasn’t long before we were loading the equipment into our trucks and trailers - providing the client with the personal delivery and installation of their new equipment.
The products were installed without a hitch, providing the gymnasium in one of Ottawa’s oldest recreational complexes a new lease on life.
