Located in south-central Ontario, the Chippewas of Rama First Nation has long been known as a caring and community-focused area. In what is often referred to as ‘the gathering place’, the Chippewa territory has developed exponentially over the years and is showing no signs of slowing down.

In the spring of 2024, the strong and resilient community of the Rama First Nation reached out to our team to help them improve the athletic space in one of their many community-focused facilities. The multi-use community centre also serves as the gymnasium for one of the local schools and, as such, was in need of something that would help them continue to expand program offerings.

Looking for a way to get more out of their gymnasium, they approached our team to explore the world of state-of-the-art gym divider curtains. These units, often suspended in the ceiling above, act as a divider and allow high-use facilities such as gymnasiums to be split into two usable spaces.

In an effort to optimize the space for a number of different groups in the community, our team was quick to recommend one of our motorized units for this specific use. Given the unique shape and design of all gymnasiums, we always include an on-site visit by our team to get accurate measurements and assess the condition of the ceiling and other overhead obstacles we might encounter.

Miigwech/Thank you Sport Systems for the installation of our gymnasium divider! We appreciated your flexibility to work with our gym schedule, as we had to change the date due to external bookings. We also appreciate the quick and efficient installation of the divider during our install week. The team was very professional in their installation. Thank you very much, we look forward to putting it to good use!

With a high ceiling and a peaked roof, the beautiful facility gave our team a few challenges, but not unlike anything we haven’t tackled in the past. We recommended our centre-drive gym divider curtain for this specific installation and the Rama First Nation was quick to approve our plan.

Opting for a mesh top and a solid gray bottom, this unique curtain, which measured 71’8” in width, would allow for natural light to filter through on both sides of the divider, giving the gymnasium a better overall aesthetic appearance.

Our install team arrived on-site eager to get this beautiful curtain up and running for the Chippewas of Rama First Nation as quickly as possible. Having been on many of these installations in the past, we know first-hand how important getting these athletic programs back into play is to these communities.

We’d like to thank the Chippewas of Rama First Nation for choosing Sport Systems and look forward to working with them and many other indigenous groups across North America in the future.
