This project holds a special place in our hearts at Sport Systems Canada. We could not have pulled it off without the expertise and dedication of our trusted dealer and installers at Coastline Specialties.
The Canada Summer Games arrive only once every four years, rotating to a new host city each time to showcase the country’s brightest young athletes across multiple sports. In 2025, the honour went to the breathtaking city of St. John’s, Newfoundland. For our partners at Coastline Specialties, the project landed right in their hometown, placing them front and centre as the lead contractor on a landmark local project.
An event of this magnitude demands meticulous planning and robust construction to accommodate the thousands of spectators expected to come and cheer on their favourite competitors. The St. John’s edition of the Canada Games required two entirely new custom bleachers, each designed, engineered, and reviewed specifically for the site.
The first structure is a six-row bleacher that stretches an impressive 260 feet in length. It nests neatly beneath a brand-new building constructed on the grounds, providing seating for 1,056 spectators along with nine barrier-free spaces. The second bleacher serves as the true centrepiece for the Games’ most popular events. Rising fifteen rows high and spanning 226 feet, it accommodates over 2,000 spectators and includes sixteen barrier-free seats to ensure accessibility for all.
Every component was precision-manufactured at our Canadian facilities before being shipped to St. John’s. The Coastline Specialties team handled on-site assembly with exceptional skill, working under the open Atlantic sky. Their final update to our team confirmed what the photos so dramatically showed: the new bleachers turned out beautifully.
These new seating structures represent more than temporary seating for a two-week celebration. Built to endure, they will remain in place to serve local schools, community clubs, and future events long after the closing ceremonies. That lasting impact defines our approach to delivering infrastructure that honours today’s users while building a foundation for tomorrow’s.
