In a picturesque rural setting with Lake Ontario to the south lies the city of Bowmanville, Ontario. Home to roughly 40,000 residents, Bowmanville is located just 75km (47 miles) from the great city of Toronto and offers a tranquil community as part of the Greater Toronto area.
Travelling just north of the downtown core is the Gaud Corners community and home to the Knox Christian School, where one of our most recent projects took place. With deep roots in the community, Knox Christian School has been an admirable educational institution since its inception in 1957, providing students with strong academics and opportunities to grow spiritually in the Canadian Christian community.
The principal at the school reached out directly to our team a little over a year ago as the school was in the process of planning some major upgrades to the gymnasium in their facility. As enrollment numbers continued to swell, demand for the athletic space followed suit and required a few improvements to continue to serve students and faculty members.
With side-court basketball systems already in place, the school was in the market for a pair of main-court baskets, allowing students to play on a full-size regulation court. After our initial conversations, our team was deployed to Bowmanville for an in-depth site visit to assess their needs and make the proper recommendations for the renovations.
It was determined that two side-folding wall-mounted basketball systems would work perfectly for the space while still offering the school some versatility for non-athletic events to be held in the gymnasium. To finish the systems off perfectly, a pair of professional glass backboards were selected and fit in the school’s budget perfectly.
In addition to the basketball systems at each end of the main court, Knox Christian also had our team design custom wall padding to be installed below each of the new systems to ensure participant safety.
The final results look amazing inside the school’s gymnasium and we leave behind not only a largely upgraded athletic facility but a happy principal and faculty.
