Working closely with our partners at Sparks@Play, headquartered in Maryland, our team was brought in to help assess the condition of some outdated retractable bleachers. Lying just outside of Washington, DC is the suburb of Annandale, Virginia and the Audrey Moore RECenter, the location where our efforts would be focused.
The community facility, managed by Fairfax County, features a number of amenities including an Olympic sized swimming pool, fitness room, pottery lab, racquetball courts, an indoor gymnasium, an outdoor skate park and outdoor tennis courts.
Inside the gymnasium was a set of outdated wooden retractable bleachers that were in need of replacement and it was our partners at Sparks@Play that were contacted by the county to get the job done.
In looking for a solution that would not only bring the facility up to code but one that would also provide a long-lasting and durable solution, our team was brought in to aid in designing the perfect solution.
Our team was awarded the project in the spring of 2018 and our design team wasted no time in creating a customized solution for the unique space in which the bleachers would eventually reside.
The existing installation was highly-customized featuring a variety of site-specific parts and brackets to make the outdated wooden bleachers fit into the site a number of years ago. Above the bleacher is a walkway that had to be taken into account – a challenge welcomed by our talented team and one that did not provide any unnecessary roadblocks to the project’s completion.
In the end, our Kodiak 2400 series retractable bleachers were customized to fit the space and shipped down to the DC area for installation by the team at Sparks@Play.
Today the bleachers adorn the community gymnasium complete with custom colour coordination to match the existing colour scheme inside the facility.
