Our recent project took us to Belleville, Ontario, home of Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board’s Quinte Secondary School. Located in the heart of Belleville, Quinte Secondary School focuses on fostering leadership and excellence in the areas of academics, athletics, the arts and technology.
As home of the Saints athletic program, the school’s athletic department encompasses basketball, football, rugby, volleyball, cross country, golf, hockey, curling, figure skating, gymnastics, swimming, wrestling, soccer, baseball and other sports.
Naturally, with such a robust athletics program, the school was in need of an update to the existing bleachers they had in their gymnasium. At the time, the high school had a bank of out-of-date wooden telescopic bleachers that needed replacement.
Upon arriving on site, our installation team efficiently removed the old bleacher structure and safely disposed of them before beginning to install the newly ordered bank of retractable bleachers our design team customized for the school.
What arrived at the school ready for professional installation by our trusted team of experts were two banks of telescopic bleachers. The first bank featured five rows of seating at a total length of 26 feet, while the other also was equipped with five rows of seating, but was slightly longer measuring a total of 34 feet. The new seating structure would be able to safely house up to 160 spectators for the countless number of sporting and special events to be held in the school’s gymnasium.
Rather than having teachers or maintenance staff have to physically pull these bleacher systems open, or push them into a closed position, this system was nicely equipped with full electric operation, all controlled using a hand-held pendant controller. These systems allow virtually anyone in the gymnasium the ability to quickly and safely open or close the bleacher seating structure in a matter of minutes.
