If you’ve been following along on our blog, you’ll remember our feature on the custom seating upgrade we completed for Rink A at the Nick Smith Arena. That project was a great example of how our team can turn tight spaces and unique site challenges into comfortable, fully accessible spectator seating.
With that in mind, we’re excited to share that the entire Nick Smith Arena project is now officially complete as we’ve just finished installing the custom bleachers for Rink B. As many of us know, no two arenas are the same and it is those on-site-obstacles, including limited space and strict budget parameters, that are all part of the challenge we love tackling.
Welcome to Nick Smith Arena – Rink B
This time around, we were tasked with designing and installing a custom elevated bleacher that had to fit into an extremely tight footprint while still delivering everything our clients asked for. Architects, cost consultants, and general contractors across Canada are increasingly turning to Sport Systems for exactly these kinds of projects because we deliver solutions that check every box.
Here are some of the most common requests we hear and exactly how we delivered on them for Rink B:
Comfort in an arena environment — Durable, arena-rated seating that stands up to years of heavy use and temperature swings.
Fully accessible and barrier-free — Complete ADA compliance with no exceptions.
Integrated ramp access — A smooth, code-compliant ramp system for easy entry and exit.
Excellent sight lines — Carefully engineered riser heights and seating layout so every spectator gets a clear view of the ice.
Fully closed decking — No gaps, no mess. The entire understructure is sealed so maintenance crews never have to worry about cleanup underneath the bleachers.
The result of this project ended up with a fully accessible custom bleacher that comfortably seats 162 spectators that is perfectly tailored to the space, the budget, and the operational needs of the Nick Smith Arena.
From the first site measure to final installation, this project was all about collaboration and precision. Seeing both Rink A and Rink B now fully upgraded with Sport Systems custom seating is incredibly rewarding. The Nick Smith Arena team now has consistent, high-quality spectator experiences across both rink, and that’s what it’s all about.
