If you’ve been following us over the past few months, you know that a select number of our team members were lucky enough to spend some time on the beautiful island of Barbados this winter.

While it certainly wasn’t a typical visit filled with island-themed libations and hammocks strung between palm trees, it was an experience our organization won’t soon forget. While the warm weather and palm trees were awelcome addition to the project, the hard work started many months ago when we were approached by the Barbados Football Association and key stakeholders at FIFA.

The planning process was intense as anyone would expect and one that wouldn’t be complete without a multitude of moving parts. Towards the end of 2017, all of the necessary parts and plans came together and the project was officially underway.

After the logistics of transporting the material required to build a grandstand bleacher in the Caribbean was handled, our team was swept away to the tropics to begin the construction of this historic project.

In addition to the bleachers our team was dispatched to supply and install, the stadium was in-line for a number of other upgrades including new lighting and many other amenities. Working in tandem with the planning committee on the island along with other contractors, the entire project began to take shape and was ultimately completed last month.

Today, what adorns the sidelines of Wildey Stadium are three brand-new grandstand aluminum bleachers. Each bleacher measures ten rows in height and are 100 feet in length complete with 30” high elevated decks and allow for a total capacity of approximately 1,800 spectators.

In keeping up with accessibility standards, one of the large grandstands is fully equipped with an ADA-approved accessible ramp and notched out ADA accessible deck-level seating for spectators living with disabilities.

We would once again like to thank Edwyn Wood and the entire membership of the Barbados Football Association as well as Mahy-Ridley-Hazzard Engineers Ltd., C. O. Williams Construction and Musco Lighting.
