Named after a dear friend of school founder Ed King, Father Michael Goetz Secondary School (FMGSS) first opened the doors to its current location in 1990. Originally located in Etobicoke, the current location is situated in Mississauga and currently serves upwards of 1,300 students.
As part of some renovations scheduled to take place over the summer of 2018, our team was contacted by members of the Dufferin Peel Catholic School Board to discuss the possibility of replacing some outdated seating located in the gymnasium of FMGSS.
The existing bleachers inside the gymnasium were of the outdated wooden retractable variety and as with many of these older styles of seating configurations, were no longer easy to operate or able to meet current building codes.
As the process of renovation planning began, new motorized telescopic bleachers were high on the list for key stakeholders at the school and the school board and we were asked to provide some initial ideas in the spring of 2018.
What was selected was our Kodiak 2400 series telescopic bleacher system, complete with a powerful enough electric motor that allows for aquick and seamless operation. In addition to meeting the shipment of the new bleachers on location before installation, we were also responsible for removing and disposing of the existing wooden bleachers.
Additionally, the school chose to further customize the seating system with their blue and white school colours and emblazon the name GOETZ across the bleachers adding another level of school spirit for a school with such deep roots already planted in their community.
The bleachers await the return of the students and staff to FMGSS and we would like to wish all students a safe and successful school year!
