As the summer months came to an end, our fall season immediately kicked into gear. While we are still completing the last few large-scale outdoor projects, we now begin to see more indoor-focused purchases such as basketball equipment, volleyball systems and a variety of wall and custom padding projects.

Our most recent project came to us out of the beautiful province of Quebec in historic Montreal. One of the city’s most prominent rehabilitation centres was in the market for some very specialized wall padding for a particular room in one of its many locations around the city.

The client was Le Centre de Réadaptation en Déficience Intellectuelle et en Troubles Envahissants du Développement de Montréal (CRDITED). An institution in the health and social services network, CRDITED provides specialized services for adaptation and rehabilitation for over 4500 people with intellectual disabilities and with autism spectrum disorder.

This past spring, CRDITED became a part of the Centre intégré universitaire de services de santé et de services sociaux du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal (CIUSSS).

We were approached by the ergotherapist for one of their centres located on rue Baldwin who was welcoming a new special needs client to their location and wanted to ensure the accommodations were comfortable and safe for his arrival.

The four walls in the room were to be padded, but not in their entirety. After securing the exact measurements from the client, our design team got to work and created the perfect-sized padding solution for the treatment centre. Three of the walls were padded from 29” off the ground up to 77” off the ground while the remaining wall was almost completely covered from 12” from the floor to 77” from the floor.

As with many of our padded room designs, safety is the chief concern. In this particular case the young man experiences trouble standing at times and the client simply wanted something in place to prevent an injury, should he lose his balance or fall over. The result is a perfectly designed padded room to welcome a new visitor to this established facility and most importantly, a safe place for him to reside.
