Located on the western edges of the City of Ottawa, the small community of Glen Cairn was established back in the 1960s and served as a warm and welcoming community for young families. As such, one of the earlier developments within the community was establishing an elementary school as part of the Ottawa Carleton District School Board.
While a lot certainly has passed since the school was built, much of the facilities have been upgraded over the years. As part of this on-going routine of ensuring all equipment and fixtures are up to date, we were contacted to help design and install a new divider inside the school’s gymnasium.
The gym was a large size considering that the community was once so small, and for that reason, key stakeholders from the school were interested in utilizing the space more effectively. They called our team in to measure up the gymnasium and discuss the possibility of installing a new gym divider curtain.
Following a few initial concepts and discussions, the school ultimately decided on our centre-drive gym divider curtain - our fastest curtain model. Allowing the curtain to roll up in a matter of minutes allows facility operators the ability to quickly transition from singular use to a shared space in the gymnasium.
Giving the school and their athletic programming a new multi-purpose space for all age groups and skill levels was one of the goals that was instantly achieved following the installation.
Today, the new curtain hangs proudly in the gymnasium, marking a new beginning for the athletics department at Glen Cairn Public School.
