Earlier this month a less-than-ordinary request came in to one of our sales people via our online chat. The prospective customer found Sport Systems online and was busy researching products they could use for an upcoming theatrical performance in Toronto, Ontario.

After some conversing, we learned that the customer was seeking something to aid them in creating a boxing ring area for their upcoming production. The initial thought was to use our custom padding or gym mats, until our sales team suggested the use of one of our Residential Rink Kits, typically used to enclose hockey rinks.

This rink kit consists of two panels of 1” diamond mesh netting measuring 12’ H x 30’ L, each panel used at opposite ends of the ice surface. Rather than enclosing a hockey or other sports-themed surface as typically prescribed, the client purchased two of these rink kits to create an enclosed boxing ring-inspired area for use in their upcoming production of BULL.

BULL, a morality play centering on the world of office politics, pits three colleagues against each other in competition for only two job openings. The entire production was set inside a rectangular boxing ring, with the audience flanking the four sides surrounding the enclosed area using our rink kits.

The theatrical production went off without a hitch and continues to run until the 5th of April 2015 at the Coal Mine; an independent theatre space in the east end of Toronto. If you are in the area, we invite you to take in a performance by purchasing tickets at
