With the continuing increase in mental health awareness, more and more educational facilities are turning to safe rooms, de-escalation rooms, sensory environments and the like to the keep students safe and happy while at school.
Over the past five years, our team has been involved in the process of designing, consulting and installing these types of highly specialized environments across North America. These spaces can be found in schools, mental health facilities, addiction centres, hospitals and private residences, and research shows that when utilized properly, these environments are extremely beneficial to their users.
We were recently contacted again by an Ontario school that was looking to provide a safe space for students. In this particular case, key stakeholders from the school were concerned about a couple of students and their risk of self-harm. The room was to be designed to act as a safe environment for the students where they could collect their thoughts and de-escalate safely.
We were immediately on the phone with our partners at King Carpentry, who are always involved in these types of highly detailed projects. Their attention to detail is second to none and given the unique nature of this project, it was exactly the type of partnership we were looking for.
Heading on site to take detailed measurements, the team at King Carpentry then had the instructions and measurements sent directly to our manufacturing facility, kick-starting the production process.
Upon the completion of the padding, everything was shipped directly to the school and was met by the installation professionals at King Carpentry.
When it was all said and done, the complex space was safely padded wall-to-wall, including the door. The installation team at King Carpentry did not miss a detail and once again, has turned a complex project into a simple solution that will benefit this school for years to come.
