A common question often fielded by our sales team is “how big of a bench do I need?”  The answer? Well, it’s not always as easy as it seems. Much the same as choosing a bleacher or other seating structure, there is a lot that goes into determining exactly what you might need.

With varying options and configurations, without a certain amount of key data points you could easily end up with the wrong product for your team, municipality or organization.

Let’s start with the basics and work our way out from there. By the end, you can be assured you will have made the correct decision that should prove to last for years to come.

Sizing

This is usually the first question asked in the initial stages of an enquiry with our sales department, and with good reason. Generally speaking, before many begin their search for the right bench, they have a general idea as to how many players or participants will be occupying the space during play.

This information is then used to calculate the prospective length of your player’s bench using our general formula of allowing for roughly 18” of spacing per player. In addition to this, your budget will also come into play. As benches increase in length, this is reflected in the quoted cost.

Styling

A common misconception is that benches are designed for specific sports. While they are used for a variety of sports including football, soccer, baseball and basketball, they are similar in nature. Our team benches are built to accommodate all team sports, but we do have more sport-specific offerings, particularly with soccer benches.

The choice is quite basic at this stage as it pertains to design as they traditionally come in two unique styles: without backrests or with backrests. This is a clear matter of choice on the buyer’s part.

Location

The mounting style will also need to be determined and is contingent on the proposed placement of the benches. We offer three types of installation methods for our team benches based on the variety of terrain these benches can be located in. Offering the most versatility is are our portable units, allowing the benches to be moved freely by one or two individuals, depending on size. For a more permanent solution, our in-ground or surface mounted benches are the perfect fit.
