This past June, Carleton University in Ottawa awarded a contract to Davan Group Inc. to convert their old practice area from a natural surface to a state-of-the-art artificial field, along with a number of other site improvements including landscaping, natural stone retaining walls and the sports furnishings for the field.

When it came to selecting a sports equipment and infrastructure supplier and manufacturer, the university ultimately chose Sport Systems to provide their new field with the necessary equipment.

Being an exclusive dealer of KwikGoal equipment here in Canada, we began by supplying the university with a pair of CFL regulation height football uprights featuring an extended gooseneck design. The university was also looking for a certain level of personalization with their football uprights and we proudly printed and installed custom logos to the padded areas of both football uprights.

With the popularity of soccer, we were also asked to supply Carleton University with four pairs of KwikGoal soccer goals, complete with wheel kits for added versatility, allowing the goals to be easily moved in different locations on and off the field if need be.

A need for a custom padding solution for a number of large outdoor light posts was also a priority for completing the project. We called on our skilled in-house design and manufacturing team to quickly supply the university with a 4” thick custom wrap-around post pad complete with custom logo work.

This new field now allows the university to pack the schedule full of rentals allowing community groups and users to benefit from a brand new facility. The field is rented out for intramural soccer, flag football, ultimate Frisbee and used as a practice field for the University’s varsity teams as well and is busy seven days a week.
