When it comes to performing death-defying acts of acrobatics, combat or simply preparing for high-intensity actions, those involved operate with safety in mind. Whether it be training for martial arts or a scene in an upcoming Hollywood blockbuster, practitioners and performers alike require the proper tools to perform.

While their equipment is certainly not limited to padding, it is a big part of what they utilize in training for specific movements and actions. What might come as a surprise to some is, in addition to serving the athletic market, we supply a great deal of custom padding to this particular group, many of which work in the film industry.

How to determine the proper padding solution is usually the first question that is asked by potential customers in this physical industry. With that in mind, here are the main types of mats used by stunt professionals but we are often tasked with providing custom solutions as well.

    Tumbling Mats

These are our traditional mats found in many academic and athletic institutions across Canada and the United States. These are used for everything from gymnastics to wrestling to martial arts. These mats are available in a variety of different sizing options, depending on intended application. They can be as thin as one inch or as thick as two inches and filled with a rebound filler. Sizing typically falls in the 4’x6’ or 6’x12’ range but we are often tasked with providing highly customized sizes but be sure to talk with a member of our sales team first.

    Crash Pads

Just as their name suggests, these pads are designed to catch those that fall and when it comes to stunt performances, that is definitely part of the job description. These large pads are available in 8” to 30” thickness and are all covered by our heavy-duty vinyl for long-lasting durability.

Much like everything we do, these can also be designed in custom size configurations but are traditionally sold in 4’x8’, 5’x10 and 6’x12’ sizes.
