A facility founded firmly on the Kanien’kehá:ka (Mohawk) value of interrelatedness, Step by Step Child and Family Centre on the southern banks of the St. Lawrence River in Quebec provides care for children between the ages of 12 months and 6 years.

Utilizing a holistic approach to both child care and development, the facility has been aiding the community since its inception. With emphasis placed on each and every child who enters their programming, Step By Step always aims to be completely inclusive, believing that every child has the right to be a part of the mainstream and a contributing member of society.

As part of some recent renovations to the facility’s gymnasium, our team was approached to help out with some highly customized padding to ensure the safety of staff and children.

As a part of the divider system in the gymnasium, there was a counter balanced weight that was exposed that posed a potential danger.

The organization was in search of someone who could safely pad the exposed metal surface with some padding so as to alleviate any future concerns of participants being hurt.

Our team was able to get exact measurements and design a padding solution to fit over the balancing weight on the curtain ballast.

Once drawings were approved, the padding was shipped out to the facility and was safely installed over the balance weight.

Eliminating the risk of potential injury, the gymnasium is now a safer environment for all ages to enjoy.
