We see a variety of facilities, each with their own unique designs and configurations. Over our 35 years in the athletic infrastructure business, we have seen a number of jobs that have called upon our strength as a custom designer and installer across many of our product lines. Our custom padding department’s products are used in educational, athletic and health facilities of all shapes and sizes. Our bleachers department is no different, as we continue to build innovative structures to seat fans and spectators.

Basketball systems can appear to be quite cut and dry with regards to installation and product specifications, but with the development and renovation of so many facilities, we are continually challenged to design new solutions for our ceiling-suspended basketball nets.

A priority of businesses, organizations and sport facilities is and always will be safety. Commercial buildings such as warehouses have stringent safety standards and are often rewarded for outstanding performance in maintaining and exceeding these standards.

Sporting facilities and institutions are no different. Appealing to a wide range of participants of different ages and skill levels, these organizations must always work toward providing their participants with the very best in safety and security.

Safety starts long before a product hits the shelves or the loading docks of any institution; it starts during the manufacturing process. As manufacturers ourselves, we constantly strive for more durable, long-lasting and safety-conscious products.

Pole fitness and pole dancing has evolved into a mainstream fitness program in local gyms and fitness facilities around the world. Today, facilities dedicated to pole dancing fitness are popping up in many areas and pole fitness is quickly becoming a popular exercise for those looking for a unique and fun way to build strength and get in shape.

Because of the complexity of some of the moves, a pole fitness program requires the participant to be in great shape, although beginner programs do exist. With specialized exercise programs taking off in local gyms and training facilities, it is no wonder pole fitness facilities and programs are following the same trend.

As a leading padding manufacturer and supplier, we initially began designing custom padding solutions for pole dancing and fitness programs on a case-by-case basis. As pole fitness has risen in popularity, so too has the demand for a padding solution to keep participants safe while exercising using poles.

Built to international standards for competition aquatics, the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre (TPASC) is a world-class facility serving those living healthy and active lives in Toronto, Ontario.

This 312,000 square foot facility is home to a four-court gymnasium, indoor running track, conditioning rooms, a high-performance testing centre, studio spaces and an exclusive fitness centre for their members. The TPASC is also home to the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario which provides cutting edge sport science and sport performance services.

The TPASC also hosts an impressive aquatic centre comprising of two internationally sanctioned 10-lane, 50-metre pools and a dive tank measuring at five metres in depth, featuring eight lanes for practice swimming.

For this recent project, we were approached to provide customized wall and column padding for the TPASC’s state-of-the-art Diving Dryland Training Centre. This portion of the facility is where athletes go to hone their diving skills and difficult manoeuvres using trampolines, a dive pit, harness rigs and cushioned flooring.

As facility managers, operators and business owners, we all know the importance of a strong brand image to represent your company, sports team or both. Your logo and associated colour scheme is a symbol that provides instant and powerful brand recognition and in some cases portrays organizational values and goals without saying a word.

As more and more facilities and athletic institutions grow their user and fan bases, the need for unique customization of their athletic equipment becomes very important. Logo screening was perhaps at one point thought of as a luxury, but is now becoming more a necessity for a large portion of our clientele.

It began when organizations started requesting team colour-coded removable and permanent wall padding for their gymnasiums, along with customized colour schemes and lettering for their telescopic bleachers and fixed seating in lecture halls and auditoriums.

When outfitting a facility with new equipment or accessories, a comprehensive maintenance program should be in place to extend the life of your new product as much as possible. Gym mats are no exception and with the proper care, you will enjoy a longer product life cycle, saving you money on recurring replacement costs.

Keeping Gym Mats Clean

This step requires a fair bit of work but can really pay dividends in the long run. Cleaning is arguably the most important aspect of maintaining gym mats. In addition to regular wiping, a thorough disinfecting on a weekly basis will not only keep the mat in great shape, but will keep participants protected from bacteria and other unwanted organisms that can accumulate after extended use.

As far as cleaning solutions go, a regular commercial solution or a simple bleach and water solution mixed at a 10:1 ratio will do the job handily.

Located in beautiful Banff, Alberta, the Tunnel Mountain Resort is situated in the picturesque Canadian Rocky Mountains. The 96 unit resort offers guests a selection of award-winning condos, chalets, cabins and suites for their Rocky Mountain getaway.

We were recently approached by the resort to design a custom padding solution for one of their suites that featured a unique loft design. Our team quickly got to work gathering the necessary measurements needed to design the padding to cover a few exposed beams in the loft area of the suite.

Depending on your geographical location, practicing and playing golf year round might not be an option. It is no secret that the game of golf requires a great deal of patience and persistence to improve your skills.

Home to many sports teams and clubs including basketball, volleyball, hockey, curling, soccer and football, Timmins High and Vocational School approached us to design and install a new bank of telescopic bleachers for their gymnasium.

The scope of the job, however, was anything but typical. Usual configurations and installations of retractable bleachers consist of a bank of bleachers located alongside a basketball or volleyball court, giving the facility the option to seat a crowd or retract the bleachers for use of additional floor space.

The management at Timmins High & Vocational School had a slightly different vision for their newly acquired telescopic seating. This bank of bleachers was to be installed atop the stage surface for use with alternate events such as graduations, complete with outward facing seating pointed toward the gymnasium or crowd for spectator events.

Our padding department is by far one of the most versatile and ever-changing areas of our business. In addition to sports-themed facilities, our padding is manufactured for a wide variety of uses outside of the sporting world.

We manufacture wall padding for padded rooms of all shapes and sizes and for many different uses such as therapy rooms, remand rooms, quiet rooms and for other facilities like commercial warehouses. The majority of our padding projects, outside of traditionally sized gym mats, are completely custom designed for the end user.

A large part of our custom padding line is our column padding, which given the structural differences of every facility, can vary from project to project.   As with the majority of our padding products, safety is the main concern and all facilities with exposed columns, beams or poles turn to us to safely pad them for the protection of participants or employees.
