This past June, Carleton University in Ottawa awarded a contract to Davan Group Inc. to convert their old practice area from a natural surface to a state-of-the-art artificial field, along with a number of other site improvements including landscaping, natural stone retaining walls and the sports furnishings for the field.

When it came to selecting a sports equipment and infrastructure supplier and manufacturer, the university ultimately chose Sport Systems to provide their new field with the necessary equipment.

Being an exclusive dealer of KwikGoal equipment here in Canada, we began by supplying the university with a pair of CFL regulation height football uprights featuring an extended gooseneck design. The university was also looking for a certain level of personalization with their football uprights and we proudly printed and installed custom logos to the padded areas of both football uprights.

Given our years of experience taking arena bleachers to the next level through seating upgrades, Ominsport turned to us to design and manufacture the bleacher seating needed to suit their clients’ needs.

The bleacher system was all based upon the foundation of a galvanized steel angle frame under structure, combined with an elevated front deck with custom stair case access for patrons at either end.

To help keep maintenance low, the arena bleachers were designed with a fully closed aluminum deck design. This unique design eliminates any garbage or debris from falling beneath the structure and allows operations staff an easy to clean bleacher seating system. Our design team also was able to include notched out areas around the penalty boxes, allowing for a virtually seamless fit to the existing design of the arena.

We were recently commission by the Boys & Girls Club of Kingston and Area to successfully renovate a new facility they recently acquired. What was once a workout facility is now home to the Boys & Girls Club, a facility that aims to provide a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life. 

Converting the existing facility to a new Boys & Girls Club obviously came with a variety of alterations and required a number of products to properly separate the space into the needed areas to support the ongoing user groups and events often held at Boys & Girls Clubs.

When the games come to Toronto next summer, it will mark only the third time this event has been held on Canadian soil, with Winnipeg, Manitoba being the only other host city in the country. Both the Pan Am & Parapan Games are held every four years, always preceding the Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games.

With the start of the 2015 games approaching in less than a year, the organizing committee, project managers and volunteers are busy preparing sites in and around the Greater Toronto Area, anxiously awaiting the start of the games, set to kickoff on July 10^th, 2015.

As part of the development of multiple sites across Toronto, Sport Systems’ expertise was called upon to design, build and install a custom, retractable barrier netting solution to serve as a barrier around the perimeter of the Field Hockey venue located on the campus of the University of Toronto.
