Depending on your geographical location, practicing and playing golf year round might not be an option. It is no secret that the game of golf requires a great deal of patience and persistence to improve your skills.

Home to many sports teams and clubs including basketball, volleyball, hockey, curling, soccer and football, Timmins High and Vocational School approached us to design and install a new bank of telescopic bleachers for their gymnasium.

The scope of the job, however, was anything but typical. Usual configurations and installations of retractable bleachers consist of a bank of bleachers located alongside a basketball or volleyball court, giving the facility the option to seat a crowd or retract the bleachers for use of additional floor space.

The management at Timmins High & Vocational School had a slightly different vision for their newly acquired telescopic seating. This bank of bleachers was to be installed atop the stage surface for use with alternate events such as graduations, complete with outward facing seating pointed toward the gymnasium or crowd for spectator events.

Our padding department is by far one of the most versatile and ever-changing areas of our business. In addition to sports-themed facilities, our padding is manufactured for a wide variety of uses outside of the sporting world.

We manufacture wall padding for padded rooms of all shapes and sizes and for many different uses such as therapy rooms, remand rooms, quiet rooms and for other facilities like commercial warehouses. The majority of our padding projects, outside of traditionally sized gym mats, are completely custom designed for the end user.

A large part of our custom padding line is our column padding, which given the structural differences of every facility, can vary from project to project.   As with the majority of our padding products, safety is the main concern and all facilities with exposed columns, beams or poles turn to us to safely pad them for the protection of participants or employees.

As one of Canada’s elite soccer development centres, the Farias Soccer Academy (FSA) turned to Sport Systems when the need arose for custom wall padding to cover the perimeter of the play area inside their facility.

With the focus on player development, the FSA recently introduced their new permanent facility, located in Bedford, Nova Scotia on Canada’s East Coast. The FSA management team is comprised of a father and son team with deep roots in the beautiful game. José is the patriarch of the academy, having started his career as a referee at the tender age of 16 and is an inspiring role model to the academy’s founder and principal coach, his son Eduardo.

A great addition to any outdoor athletic field is an outdoor scoring table. When hosting sporting events and tournaments where statistics and scores are being accounted for, outdoor scoring tables are tough to beat in terms of function and reliability.

Our scoring tables are designed and constructed with a galvanized steel structure, which like our bleacher seating products, provides the end user with a rugged and maintenance-free structure they can count on for years to come.

We carry a variety of standard sizes to suit each facility's or program’s unique needs. Our outdoor scoring tables vary in length depending on the number of score keepers and announcers needed at any given time. Our 6’ length is perfect for up to three people while our 21’ length can accommodate multiple scorers, statisticians and announcers.

Visualizing a finished project can prove to be difficult , especially when it comes to complex customizations of padded room configurations. With varying wall heights and shapes, doors, windows, electrical outlets and radiators or heating vents, padding a room can prove to be a challenge.

With some basic measurements and perhaps a quick site visit, our design team can quickly get your concept on paper, with every little detail taken into account. Our powerful 3D CAD Design software allows our designers to create, validate, communicate and manage the entire development process for each and every client.

Wall padding for padded rooms such as quiet rooms, seclusion rooms, time out rooms and remand rooms require not only that every piece of padding fit correctly, but that the walls have the right amount of padding with little to no exposure to the unpadded surface. Detailed measurements and images aid our design team in creating a mock design that helps our manufacturing department create the right padding, specifically cut for your unique design.

When it comes to the installation of ceiling-suspended basketball systems, no two installations are alike. The wide variety of facilities and gymnasiums today can sometimes present challenges to both the design and installation of these types of basketball systems. Aside from a strong support structure, other factors like noise and vibration often come into play, particularly when usable space is located above the basketball playing area.

The situation at the Michener Institute in Toronto, Ontario was no different than the above and they promptly contacted us to design and install a lasting solution to their problem. The existing basketball backstops were hung from the ceiling slab and located underneath an acoustical ceiling as illustrated in the photo below:

The City of Saint John in New Brunswick was looking for an ample amount of seating for the Canada Games Aquatic Centre. The facility aims to be a community-focused aquatic and fitness centre serving Grand Bay-Westfield, Quispamsis, Rothesay and Saint John. In addition to offering a wide range of aquatic programs and services, the Canada Aquatic Games Centre also provides a fantastic venue for aquatic sporting events. They turned to Sports Systems Canada asking us to design and install a solution for their indoor aquatic and fitness centre.

One of the fastest growing portions of our business is that of custom wall padding for a variety of different uses. From schools and educational facilities to healthcare and correctional facilities, more and more organizations around the world are turning to our padding department for custom-designed padded room solutions.

We were recently contacted by the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre (OCTC) to design, manufacture and install some custom wall padding for their Therapy Room at their Thurston Drive location in Ottawa.

Since 1951, the OCTC has become a leader in providing specialized care for those with multiple physical, developmental and associated behavioural needs in the greater Ottawa area. Today the OCTC offers a wide variety of programs and services aimed at benefiting children, youth and adults in communities across Eastern Ontario.
