Gymnasium use for a multitude of activities is on the rise, leading to a greater demand for proper and safe separation of these athletic spaces to maximize their functionality.
Whether your facility is in need of an upgraded divider for safety reasons or you are shopping for a new divider for an existing gym or new build, there are a number of factors to keep in mind during the planning process.
While relatively simple in design, their nuances can impact not only how the curtains themselves perform but also how they impact the functionality of your gymnasium as a whole. Here’s a few design elements to keep in mind before you purchase your next gym divider curtain.
Visibility
Can you see through your new curtain? Do you want to be able to? These are questions that should be addressed in the early stages of the planning process. Most curtains feature durable vinyl bottoms and mesh uppers that not only allow for visibility on both sides of the curtain, it but also allows for light to pass through. Whether or not this is a factor in your facility is up to you but something that should be addressed early on.
Branding
You have a curtain that could span upwards of 100 feet across your entire gymnasium. The next question you should ask yourself is, do you want it customized with your team colours or logo? The branding opportunity your gymnasium presents cannot be underestimated and your new curtain is the perfect place for a beautifully printed school logo. Additionally, the colours used for the curtain can also be customized giving the curtain a unique look and feel.
Acoustics
We’ve designed curtains made of both mesh and vinyl, some of just mesh and others using only vinyl. As one can imagine, a curtain made completely of mesh easily allows sound to travel through it and in some cases, could be distracting. Decide what level of noise you are comfortable with on both sides of the curtain before signing off on your final design documents.
