The project envisioned by Cumberland City Councillor Stephen Blais back in 2014 is finally coming to fruition. While the project is not complete at the time of this publication, the park has undergone a variety of construction and site upgrades located in the east end of Ottawa in the Orleans neighbourhood.

Blais spearheaded the unique $8 million park expansion in partnership with local homebuilders who ended up designing and funding the majority of the park. Millennium Park is slated to be the premier destination for sports clubs and casual users in the Orleans area, complete with state-of-the-art facilities and sports fields. Among the upgrades the park will have upon its completion are an artificial turf soccer and football field, stadium seating and lighting, nine full-size soccer fields, a junior-size soccer field, two ultimate Frisbee fields, 400m running track, two shade structures, club house for junior sports clubs, splash pad with both senior and junior play zones along with junior and senior play structures and swing sets.

Outdoor sports equipment and infrastructure such as bleachers are exposed to a variety of different weather conditions and over time require maintenance or eventual replacement. As this school year comes to a close and with a new one just around the corner, Woodroffe High School of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, commissioned us to remove their existing combination soccer and football goal posts and replace them with a new product.

Our combination football and soccer goals are a popular choice among educational facilities and municipalities where multi-use fields are present. These combination goals allow a permanent fixture that satisfies the needs of two separate sports and are built to endure the toughest weather conditions.

These goals consist of an 8’ x 24’ soccer goal opening with solid 4” square tubing forming the frame of the goal. A two-piece cross bar and the 20’ high football uprights are constructed using 2” square tubing and the unit is completely sandblasted and powder coated white for a chip-resistant finish.

With spring officially starting tomorrow, many soccer associations and organizations are quickly preparing for the upcoming seasons. In addition to ensuring substantial registration numbers, many soccer clubs are busy performing inventory and maintenance checks on their current gear and thinking about possible upgrades as the weather becomes more pleasant.

Some upgrades may be as simple as upgrading smaller accessories like corner markers, balls and goal anchors, but many organizations take a careful look at aging soccer goals and begin exploring options for replacement this time of year as well.

Over time the elements can take their toll on outdoor goals and rusting and corrosion can become not only unsightly, but unsafe for players on the pitch. If you do notice that there is some wear and tear on your goals, or they just might simply be out of date, below is a few of our most popular soccer goal options for both permanent and portable configurations.

It's no secret that the proper goal anchoring system will not only keep your soccer goals in place, but will add another level of protection for those using the soccer pitch. These anchoring systems come in a number of different configurations and are easily installed permanently or semi-permanently on any size of goal.

When you first begin your research on a new set of soccer goal anchors, we always recommend taking the following three factors into consideration:

    • Anticipated Goal Usage - semi-permanent vs. portable
    • Type of Playing Surface – grass vs. artificial turf.
    • Soil Type of Grass Fields - sand vs. loam vs. clay.

We proudly carry a wide variety of goal anchors. Below are some of the main categories with descriptions to help you choose the anchor type that is right for you.

But the World Cup comes but once every four years, and special musical arrangements are being made accordingly.

During soccer season, diehard teams will rarely miss a game, rain or shine.  Weather doesn’t keep players from taking to the field - in fact, playing in the rain and mud add another dynamic to gameplay that some players even prefer.

While it might be fun to play soccer in the rain, it’s not always as enjoyable to be on the sidelines in a monsoon.  It is certainly easier to be a good sport about the rain from on the field than it is on from the bench.

Soccer players keep warm and focused by keeping in motion.  But once a player is subbed out, he needs a place to take shelter from the storm and recuperate before returning to the game. Without the chance to dry off and warm up, your players could catch cold and risk missing future games.
