Playing host to its second hosting of the U-18 Baseball World Cup, Thunder Bay, Ontario lived up to the hype and so much more in last month’s tournament. Acting as the governing body for the sports of both baseball and softball, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) was established in 2013 when the International Softball Federation and the International Baseball Federation merged to form one singular regulatory committee.

As such, the newly formed confederation organizes a series of World Cup events held in various locations around the world to test the fortitude of baseball players worldwide. The host city selection process can be an arduous one for applicants as the governing body evaluates every aspect of the host city’s application.

Nestled along the Gaspé Peninsula in eastern Quebec lies the town of Matane.  Bordered by the eastern province of New Brunswick, this picturesque area of Quebec runs along the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River.

The area was once a haven for fisheries, forestry and agriculture but has since become a tourist destination, attracting visitors from around the world. Home to a number of National Parks, the peninsula is an eco-tourist’s dream and is offers a unique opportunity to spot whales from within the province of Quebec.

One of our more recent projects gave us the opportunity to work in this unique landscape as we were awarded a tendered contract to provide Cégep de Matane with a new bank of telescopic bleachers. Providing students in the region with a pre-university and technical college, the school’s programming gives students the skills needed to continue in post-secondary education.

Located in the world-renowned Niagara Escarpment, made famous by the towering waterfalls that have made the region so popular in both Canada and the United States, is Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary School.

Just north of the falls, the school is located in Ancaster, Ontario, a former municipality of Hamilton, which was one of the oldest European communities established in present-day Ontario.

Founded in 2004, Bishop Tonnos provides an excellent broad-based, balanced education to help young people grow to their fullest potential, with a deep-rooted focus on the Catholic Faith. While there is certainly a great deal of focus on academics, the school is also home to the Titans, who represent the school athletically in the community.

Whether it be in your educational, community, professional or athletic facility, the need to more efficiently utilize space will continue to be integral for growing spaces. As more programs continue to expand and seek to accommodate more participants, the need for space-saving products has become vital for many facilities.

Having nearly 40 years worth of experience in the market, we have seen first-hand how this need has not only grown, but also how companies such as ours have continued to innovate and push the envelope to deliver the products our clients need.

As our line of gym divider curtains, retractable bleachers and portable basketball systems continues to expand, we have added another unique product to our award-winning line-up. While retractable bleacher systems remain as the leading source of versatile seating solutions, the fact remains that in some cases, these seating systems can be too large for certain spaces and facilities.

One of our more recent projects landed us in Ville-Marie, or more commonly known as Old Montreal. The hustling, bustling and culturally diverse city is the most populous in the province of Quebec and was once the commercial capital of Canada until the city of Toronto took its place in the 1970s.

This project took us to the southeastern portion of the city, where we joined forces with our partners at Constructions et Installations Sportifs for this installation. The site was Edward Murphy School, a member of the English Montreal School Board featuring both an English core program as well as French immersion programming for its student body.
