In almost all realms of life, it is always better to plan ahead to ensure you can accommodate the potential outcome and support your expectations. Most would agree that it is better to be overprepared than underprepared, more important to overestimate your needs rather than to underestimate them. Taking active measures to ensure that they are always able to accommodate their guests, St. Joseph-Scollard Hall Catholic Secondary School invited Sport Systems to return to their school and install additions to their outdoor bleachers.

As we near the final weeks of spring, many children and youth have begun to count down the
days until summer break begins. While there is no shortage of activities available, parents still find themselves with the same annual predicament: who will provide supervision to all of these newly released students? Fortunately, many residents of Oshawa, Ontario are able to turn to BGC Durham for summer activities that are fun, safe, and reliable.

Throughout the years, Sport Systems has been privileged to partner with numerous schools and community resources dedicated to serving children and youth. Whether assisting in the renovation of a high school football field, equipping a local playground with accessible seating solutions, working with a science and history museum on a customized project, or providing an after-school program with new basketball equipment, we have seen firsthand how a safe and well-maintained environment promotes the development of the youngest members of society. One organization that Sport Systems has made several contacts through is the BGC of Canada. Working with several different locations throughout Ontario, our team has been able to provide equipment ranging from safety wall padding to gym divider curtains for various facilities. Recently, we were invited to collaborate with BGC London to install new basketball systems in their gymnasium.

The value of speaking more than one language cannot be understated. Not only is it believed to aid older adults in preventing memory loss (Skibba), it opens the door to many more opportunities in life — especially in employment. With Ottawa’s large bilingual population, the need for businesses such as Sport Systems to cater to both languages is essential. As such, the Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario (CEPEO) has committed itself to providing, “the means to acquire the skills and knowledge [children] need to grow and succeed in a constantly changing world” (“Ottawa”).

To be successful in any of life’s endeavors, a certain amount of discipline is required. The idea of
behind-the-scene investment is simply put with the phrase, “you get what you give.” For example, a musician is expected to frequently rehearse leading up to a performance, and a student is expected to study before a test. When it comes to athletics, the amount of time spent training off the field or the court informs an athlete’s performance during each game. Recognizing the important role that training plays in the success of their athletes, St. Mark High School has invested in providing their students with the facilities needed to perfect their craft.

Kryptonite is to Superman as rust is to metal. The strength and integrity of metal can be compromised if not regularly maintained. Many have learned this lesson the hard way, with their kitchen knives or vehicles, once the oxidation process has accelerated beyond repair. Addressing the frustrations of rusted equipment, Waukesha South High School reached out to the Carroll Seating Company to replace the corroded indoor bleachers located in their pool room.

Over the years, the advances in technology and communications in an increasingly globalized world have allowed networks and communities to be created, despite the geographical distances that might physically separate us. Today’s technology has eliminated the need for in-person interactions, widening the scope for interconnectedness outside one’s community, and even within it. Although technology can facilitate ways to find others with shared interests and values, the lack of face-to-face interaction can cause many to feel disconnected within their own communities. Appreciating the advantages technology can provide, the Town of Arnprior also understands the importance of in-person interaction amongst its residents. As Arnprior’s recreational hub, the Nick Smith Centre has proven to be an extremely important resource for its community.

Originally manufacturing and selling basketball systems exclusively, Sport Systems has since branched out with additional products, including our top-of-the-line bleachers. Throughout the years, many of our bleacher systems have been produced for indoor basketball courts, combining our company’s initial focus with our expanding product line. The versatility of our bleachers has allowed for further growth, most recently demonstrated with a request to participate in a project at an outdoor soccer field in North Carolina.

From the small town of Springfield to the city of Omaha, Sport Systems is privileged to work throughout the great state of Nebraska. While this part of the United States is often overlooked, the simplicity and comfort found in the Midwest makes Nebraska an appealing destination. More specifically, the city of Lincoln, including Lincoln Public Schools, provides the ideal environment for raising a family. As with many projects in this part of the country, we were proud to, once again, partner with the team at Crouch Recreation. Having worked together on a number of other projects in the great state of Nebraska, this is yet another example of the power and skill behind our dealer network.

Diverse societies can help us grow in our world perspective and offer us new insight and experiences. We can use these opportunities to grow and diversify, creating inclusive and cooperative communities. Similarly, finding common ground with related interests and objectives
can create successful business partnerships and foster valuable progress and development in
our communities. This joining of forces with common objectives and skillsets to create something meaningful for two different communities was demonstrated with Sport Systems’ experience in collaborating with LaPlante Builders Ltd.
