Heading back to the region  of the 1,000 Islands, about 90km (56mi) from our company headquarters, is a small riverfront city our crews always look forward to working in. Close enough for a day trip, but seemingly far enough away from home to enjoy the charm of it all once you arrive.

Working again with the City of Brockville, our team was brought in to assess the seating situation in one of the local parks. Brackenreid Baseball Park is often denoted as one of the best little league fields in southern Ontario, and with good reason.

Officially nicknamed the “Garden City’ for its over 1,000 acres of parks, gardens and recreational trails, St. Catharines is the pride of the Niagara region, outside of the falls, of course.

Located just 19km (12mi) from the Canada-US border, the city’s industry is dominated by manufacturing and trade, where organizations such as General Motors headquartered their Canadian operations until just a few years ago.

Located at the confluence of the Thames River is the City of London, Ontario. Founded in 1826, the once small village has blossomed into the largest municipality in southwestern Ontario and is one of the larger metropolitan areas in Canada.

It’s a city that we have a rich history with as a company as well. Having recently worked at the University of Western Ontario, heading to this picturesque city is something our team always looks forward to. This trip was no different, this time having been commissioned by a local high school to replace outdated indoor bleachers.

We officially got started on this project towards the end of 2020. In what was a tendered project we were proudly awarded, we worked closely with key stakeholders at the Unversity of Western Ontario who were looking to us to bring some of the energy, design and flair that was so prominent when we were tasked with upgrading Richardson Stadium at Queen's University.

Bennington, Nebraska, a suburb outside of Omaha offers a, “safe, small-town atmosphere with the convenience of the larger Omaha metropolitan area [nearby].” Meeting the requirements of a classic Midwestern town, Bennington offers a public library, several parks and maintains a low crime rate. On the other hand, the close proximity to the city provides easy access to job opportunities, universities and entertainment. With these appealing features, Bennington is an ideal area to live for commuters and as such has seen a consistent uptick in its population.

Sports play a significant role in the lives of many students ranging from elementary school through high school. While encouraging coaches, new uniforms and exceptional facilities contribute towards the positive experiences of players, the support of family and friends is what ultimately makes or breaks their time on the field or court. Understanding the importance of family and friend involvement during athletic events, a school in Blind Brook, New York reached out to Sports Systems and requested help in better accommodating their visitors.

Towards the beginning of the summer, we introduced Marian High School to our readers while highlighting the Indoor Telescopic Bleachers that we provided for them. While most would expect a private, all-girls Catholic school to emphasize the value of extracurricular activities, Marian High School’s devotion to sports has earned them quite the reputation. Offering 11 Class A, state-sanctioned sports to their students, it was easy to see why the initial project we completed was so important. However, the addition of new indoor seating was only the beginning of our professional relationship with the school. Being recruited by the institution once again, our team began work on another seating solution — one that would be installed outdoors.

In Canada, public parks are commonplace and easily blend in with the scenery. With convenient access to a variety of outdoor venues, it is easy to forget the intentionality and effort that allowed for these facilities to be built. Wishing to maintain the same proactive approach that established these parks, the city of Cornwall reached out to Sport Systems and requested help in the renovation of several locations. Visiting multiple parks throughout the city, our team ultimately replaced aging bleachers with new, state-of-the-art alternatives.

Delays are a normal part of life. While these occurrences remain frustrating, the consequences are usually insignificant. However, for event planners, coordinators and venues, slowdowns are often accompanied by additional challenges. Relying on a timely delivery and installation of new outdoor bleachers, Coe Hill Fairgrounds reached out to Sport Systems for help.
